blueberry ice cream

  • 2 cups blueberries
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream
mix blueberries, sugar, and salt in pot.
boil.

mash the berries.
simmer. 
only about 5 minutes.

add milk.
puree.

stir in heavy cream.

put through a sieve.

chill.

ice cream maker time. 

freeze.

eat.




so i realize that blueberries aren't in season.
so obviously i didn't make this any time recently,
but i did want to share.


and i ate some blueberries today,
(and some blackberries and strawberries too)
going against all policies i have about eating fruit out of season.
which is a good policy,
as it turns out,
cause while not horrible,
those berries sucked.
big time.

i mean,
talk about no flavor.

lame.



when will summertime be here?
i need berries and warmth.






ps. pineapple sorbet was a huge hit.
it's like summertime in your mouth. 
awesome.
